I’ve just received some brilliant photos of the clinic in Gimbie we’re raising money for. This really puts everything into perspective. I can imagine just what it’s going to be like! So while I struggle away on my commute to work, I can picture the hills, the trees and the wonderful people I’ll meet in Ethiopia.
Believe it or not, I now have less than two weeks to go before leaving for Africa and, yes, I really have already started packing!
I met the rest of the team on Saturday and I can tell you we’re about to embark on a very exciting adventure. We’re going to be camping in the mountains the whole way and will spend 6 days with no access to electricity.
Our support team will be made up of local guides, cooks, and security guards. And at the end of the long, uphill cycle, we will finally reach our destination - the clinic in Gimbie pictured above.
I have one more week of hard training and then a cooling off period before I leave. I also only have one more vaccine to go after weeks of non-stop jabs. Thank goodness!
But before I go, I hope I’ll see you at my farewell party on Friday 19th February. It’s at the Slug & Lettuce in Angel from 8pm - 1am. We’ve lined up DJs, belly dancers, amazing raffle prizes, games and tasty treats. See you there!
